Melanie Baker was born in 1955. She attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute in 1977 and her Master of Fine Arts from Stony Brook University in 2001. Baker has attended various artist residencies including Valparaiso Mojacar (2008), Yaddo (2008, 2006), Tyorne Guthrie Center Co. (2005), and Art Omi (2001). She was the recipient of a New York Foundaton for the Arts Fellowship in 2003. Her work has been featured in exhibitons at New York University’s Gallatin Galleries (2011, 2009), the Unversity Art Museum at SUNY Albany (2007), the Jersey City Museum (2006), and the Brooklyn Museum of Art (2004). Baker currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY and is represented by Cristin Tierney.

    This is just wonderful. You’ve got some very well-done and thought-provoking posts here. Sometimes an image is so much more powerful than words, and yours certainly speak volumes. Glad I found your blog and I will recommend it on mine.
